Velvette Cake with Chocolate Ganache

This one is a delight for the kids. They love this red colored cake and the chocolate ganache is well..... the icing on the cake.


For the cake:

Maida                                   1 cup
Butter                                    1 cup
Powdered sugar                 1  cup
Eggs                                     3 nos
Baking powder                    1 tsp
Red food color                      a few drops
Vanilla essence                    a few drops

For the chocolate ganache:
Chocolate                           1 cup sweet milk chocolate and 1/2 cup dark chocolate
Cream                                 1 cup

Separate the egg yolks and the egg whites.
Sieve the maida and the  baking powder.
Whip the egg whites till stiff peaks form.
Cream  the Butter and sugar, add the egg yolks and mix. Now add the vanilla essence and the red food color and mix. Add the maida gradually and fold. Gently fold the egg white in the end. 

Pre heat the oven at 350 degrees for 5 mins.

Bake the cake at 180 degrees for 35 mins.

For the ganache. Put the chopped chocolates in bowl. Heat the cream till hot but not boiling and then add it to the chocolate. Mix till the chocolate pieces dissolve. 

Let the cake cool down before icing it.

Pour the ganache over the cake and coat evenly. 

Decorate it with fresh cream.
