Crunchy Coconut Cookies

Was trying to crack open a coconut for making chutney. Its undoubtedly a herculean task.Trying to crack a coconut without breaking those fragile designer kitchen tiles, is one of a task. And with lots of efforts it finally cracked into two perfect halves. That reminded me of an advertisement ,wherein a man breaks a coconut ,to find coconut crunchies biscuits inside!! In came rushing those childhood memories! Do not get those biscuits anymore. I remember , I had an aunt who used to get those whenever she visited us.
Now with those memories , and my sweet tooth , I obviously had the craving for coconut cookies. And I knew I had to bake those to satisfy my sweet coconutty cravings!
These turned out to be really crunchy , and ummm.. coconutty!!

Ingredients:
1 Cup dessicated Coconut
2/3 Cup Maida/All purpose flour
3/4 Cup powdered Sugar
1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
Pinch of Namak Shamak
Tutti fruity/candies orange peels for decoration

Sieve maida with baking powder and salt . Add dessicated coconut and sugar and mix well.
Now add butter and knead to form a stiff dough like consistency. Add milk if the mixture goes dry.

Preheat oven at 180 deg.C. Greasee the baking try with some butter.
Make small balls of the dough and flatten them slightly and stick some tutty fruity on top.
Place them on baking tray 1/2 cm apart.

Bake the cookies for 10-12 mins. Cool on a cooling rack and store in an airtight jar.
