Orange Chiffon Cake with Chocolate Ganache




To start off with our first blog recipe, we decided to make it a sweet beginning.. it was obvious 

Harshada's idea, being the sweet craver of the two!

So lets have our sweet beginning...


Its a simple Orange and coconut chiffon cake, topped with creamy chocolate ganache

(Ganache :nothing complicated bout it..just a mix of hot cream and chocolate)..



Ingredients:

For the cake:

1 cup Maida

1cup castor sugar

2 eggs

3/4 cup orange juice

1/2 cup coconut milk

3/4 cup vegetable oil

1/4 tsp baking powder

pinch of namak shamak

1 tsp orange zest (outer coloured orange potion of peel ,scraped)


For the Ganache:

1 cup chopped dark chocolate

1/4 tsp orange zest

1/2 cup cream ( i used  amul fresh cream)


Method:

Firstly seperate egg whites from the yolks.

Now beat the egg whites till siff peaks form and keep aside.

Preheat the oven at 180 deg.

Sieve maida with baking powder and salt.

Add the egg yolks ,orange juice , cconut milk, sugar , oil and orange zest.

Now mix the entire mixture till smooth.

Gently pour this mixture into the beaten egg whites and gently fold it till a smooth batter is formed.

Now pour this batter into a greased cake mould.




Bake at 180 deg preheated oven for 25 mins. Check the center with a knife to check if its cooked to

the center.


Now keep the cake on the cooling rack.

For the ganache,





Heat the cream in a saucepan till it boils.

Add this to the bowl of chopped chocolate and gently whisk till smooth.





Now add orange zest to the ganache and mix.

Let it cool for 15 mins.

Now coat the cake with the ganache and decorate with cream and tutty fruity and cherries.
